Learning to shop for and prepare our own foods is one of the most basic yet vital elements of reclaiming a sense of well-being.
As always, begin where you are, perhaps by making a commitment to preparing one meal for yourself a month.
Make it an adventure, put the fullness of your desire for well being into it and, most of all, infuse your effort with a sense of
playfulness and discovery. Involve your family and friends in this process you and discover how the activity of caring for
your self extends out into the world. In this way pleasures of the table begin to awaken us to the many ways in which the food we
chose to eat is more than meets the eye or the stomach. You begin to experience how the process of choosing your
food and preparing a meal engages all of our senses and awakens the understanding that this is a place to continue to cultivate,
educate and refine our present relationships. It is also a vital arena for the transmission of culture from one generation to the next.
Reconsidering our relationship with food is an invitation to consider not only how our food choices impact us on a personal level,
but also how those very choices impact our personal, global, and universal relationships.
